Character Name: Laine Hanna Brookson
Canon or Original: Canon
Group: Sophomore
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Appearance:
Laine has long, brown hair that she always leaves down, usually curly, dark eyes, and fairly tanned skin. She spends most summers vacationing in various warm places, so her tan usually lasts a while. She has a fairly thin build, and likes to show it off, so most of her clothes are either very tight, or super loose and falling off of her shoulders and hips. She loves high heels, they make her feel much more confident. Her make up is usually fairly natural looking, except for her bright red lipstick. Laine has a strange obsession with her lips and her nails always being the same color, so her nails are always pink or red. Laine is always carrying a huge bag, full of various important things, and always has either her phone or her iPod at her ears, or occasionally both. She is a firm believer that a girl's best accessory is her best friend, and she tries to always have them with her.

Overall Personality: Laine is first of all, an extreme attention whore. If people aren't paying attention to her, or at least something she wants them to pay attention to, she isn't happy. She likes starting rumors, because even if people aren't talking about her, she is still controlling what they talk about. If she says something, people believe her. So maybe she's a little power hungry too?
Laine is rather insecure, really. Her mother basically tells her every day that she isn't good enough, and for some reason, that's stuck with her. She has to make sure that no one is liked more than her, not even her best friends. She has to be perfect, at least in her mind. She has to always know the best gossip, always look amazing, and always be in control of everything. If she's not, she's afraid that her world might fall apart.
Laine tries to be a good friend, but sometimes, she can't help but want to hate them. Jane is so charming, and Lexxy is so smart, and Lace is so... mean? She doesn't think she really compares to either of them. She loves her friends more than anything, but she just wishes that they could be a little less perfect.

Family: Maria Brookson(mother, retired model),
History: Laine was born on a Monday, in the middle of December. The coldest day that year, actually. When she was young, her life wasn't especially interesting. Her mother took her shopping all of the time, and her father tucked her in and read her stories every night. Not very different from anyone else.
When she was nine, her father, who was fifty one, had a fatal heart attack. Laine was absolutely devastated. By then, her father had become the only parent she could rely on. Her mother had begun to disapprove of her when she started to express an interest in music(piano, specifically), over modeling and fashion. Before her father died, Laine had been convinced that her mother's opinion didn't matter, because her daddy approved of her. After, her mother was the only person she had. She spent the year after her father died trying to get herself back into the social aspects of school.
In highschool, Laine finally found how she could fit in. She was excellent at eavesdropping, and she was great at remembering gossip. Laine quickly became the school's go-to girl to learn the newest gossip. She loved it.
Three years later, Laine is a total perfectionist, and still the best source for gossip. She’s always sending the Rumor Mill news and stuff. She's had a fairly steady stream of boyfriends, two of whom she's cheated on. Her relationships never last long, but currently, she has a huge crush on Asher James, and that’s lasted for quite a while, and she’s starting to think that she really likes him, instead of just liking him for the attention she’d get for being with him. Laine likes where she's at socially, and her mother even sort of approves of her now. She's made a couple of comments about how thin and good Laine's looked recently, and that's made her insanely happy.

It was strange that a place like Winslow could look so normal, when there were such evil things happening in it. The area Joss was wandering through... it looked like a normal, if very poor, place. There was nothing that suggested that anything was wrong, other than the near constant rain. Of course, the rain made sense to Joss now. A few days before, she'd met a girl named Leah, who happened to be the Director's daughter. Joss wasn't usually the most sympathetic of people, but you had to feel bad for that girl.
Joss sighed as she glanced over her shoulder, making sure that no one was following her. This was getting so tiring. Half of her wanted to get get caught, and just let it be over with. She wasn't so sure that it was even worth running anymore. When Riley was still around(she couldn't bring herself to say 'alive', because that would mean admitting he was dead), he had kept her hopeful. Now... she didn't have anything to hope for. Now, she was just praying that something could go right... 'And it will,'
Joss had no idea what the visions were about, so she was trying not to think on it too much. Instead, she thought about the area she was walking through. It was the long way back to the apartment complex where she was currently renting a closet sized one bedroom thing. It wasn't the nicest of places, but she had been able to get clear enough visions to see that it would be safe. The place she and Riley had lived at before wasn't too far away, and she knew that the Trackers would expect her to go as far as possible. Well. She'd confuse them, then.
Joss looked around her, and decided to stop for a minute, and sit down. She was near a small park-type area, with a couple of benches, and a sidewalk. A few children were playing in the field, and Joss considered for a second that if she wanted to blend in, she should be wearing a jacket, at least. The children were wearing heavy coats, while Joss was wearing a large, lime green t-shirt. For one thing, she couldn't stand jackets, and the other was that she loved the cold. She couldn't tolerate being warm. She guessed it had something to do with her powers, like how Warren had to be warm, all the time. She needed cold.
Suddenly, Joss's eyes unfocused, and she felt as if the whole world was spinning for a second or two. Then, she saw a tiny glimpse a person coming toward her. She gasped for air as the vision ended. 'God, I wish those could be a little less uncomfortable.' Joss looked around, but didn't see anyone, yet. Well, she would be watching. Unfortunately, she didn't know if the person meant any harm or not.
