And I don’t want the world to see me…
…Cause I don’t think that they’d understand. School had let out not that long ago and Alex was making his way through the park. The entire time, he fought an internal battle over whether or not he was doing the right thing. Because he wanted to make things right…really he did. But, then there was the fear of fucking things up again after he did set things right. There were a lot of ‘what if’ scenarios running through his head. He could just turn and walk out of the park…Cody wasn’t there yet. But he knew if he did that Cody probably wouldn’t give him another chance to try to apologize for everything if he ever wanted to. With a sigh he sat down on one of the empty benches. He was listening to his IPod, the music up quite loud. He pulled out his sketchbook from the bag that was sitting at his feet. As a way to distract him and pass the time, he began drawing. There weren’t many people around, but that wasn’t unusual for the time of year it was. It wasn’t windy that day, still it was pretty cold. Alex sighed softly as he kept working. Then he sighed and set his pencil down, wondering what the hell he was doing. He was about to start gathering his things and just leave; but, he stopped when he saw Cody. Shit, he thought. He’d lost his chance to run. Alex smiled slightly as he took out his earphones and turned off his IPod. “Hey, Cody,” he said quietly. tag;; Cody word count;; 255 ooc;;

I'm strong on the surface, not all the way through...
...I've never been perfect, but neither have you. [/b] When the final bell rang, Cody gathered the things he needed, talking as he said good-bye to some of his friends. Usually, he’d go to the music room and play a bit; but, that day he didn’t have time. He was supposed to be meeting Alex at the park…if Alex showed up. Cody knew there was a possibility that the other boy had decided to not show up…Alex had always been like that. Cody sighed as he pulled on his coat. He slowly started toward the park, careful to not slip on any random spots of ice. Cody wasn’t always the most coordinated person and often found that he could easily find the slickest batch of ice and slip on it. There weren’t many people in the park that afternoon; the cold weather often made people wish to stay indoors instead of venturing outside. Cody smiled slightly when he spotted Alex. The older boy was sitting on a bench, listening to his music and drawing. Cody was pretty close to the bench when Alex set his pencil down. It seemed to take the older boy a few seconds to realize Cody was there. “Hey, Ali,” Cody replied as he sat down next to Alex. He brushed his dark hair out of his face as he smiled slightly. “So, how’ve you been?” It felt kind of odd to be talking to Alex again. It hadn’t been that long since their confrontation at Starbucks, before their names appeared in the gossip blog…Cody was used to Alex having been the one avoiding him, though. And I don’t want the world to see me…
…Cause I don’t think that they’d understand. “Uh…okay…I guess…” Alex answered awkwardly. He sat there, looking at Cody as he found himself trying to figure out just what to say to him…or more like, he was trying to decide what to say first out of the many things he had to say. It hadn’t been very long since that day in Starbucks, but it felt like it had been a long time. So many different things were going through his head. He bit his lip as he tried to decide what to say first. Finally, he sighed and said, “I, uh…I missed you, you know…N-not just these past few days, but before when I…” Alex sighed again as he broke off speaking. He really wasn’t good with confronting people about things. It just wasn’t something he did. Of course, he wasn’t much for talking to people…or being a friend…or… There was quite a long list of things he wasn’t good at. At least he could admit it…point one for him. “I…uhm…I don’t…I wanted to…” Alex groaned and said, “Do you have any idea how infuriating you can be?” Alex could honestly say there wasn’t anyone who could get under his skin quite like the junior could. “I’m…I don’t mean to be an ass all the time, you know? I just…it just happens.” He sighed as he set aside his sketchbook. He felt ridiculous and stupid; and, still found him wondering if he was doing the right thing. He wasn’t going to lie to himself anymore and say he didn’t like Cody…because he did. And that was the problem…tag;; Cody word count;; 261 ooc;;

...I've never been perfect, but neither have you. [/b] A smile tugged at his lips as he listened to the senior stumble over his words. “Do you have any idea how infuriating you can be?” His smile turned into more of a smirk knowing quite well how infuriating people could find him. He just tended to have that effect on people, for multiple reasons. He found it quite fun, actually…well depending on who he got mad at him and why. “I’m…I don’t mean to be an ass all the time, you know? I just…it just happens.” Cody smiled again as he listened to Alex talk. Cody bit his lip, finding it hard to not laugh at his disgruntled state. He knew it was a lot just for Alex to be there. “If I thought you acted like an ass just be an ass, I wouldn’t be here,” said Cody. He knew a lot more about Alex than a lot of people did, but he wasn’t even going to pretend like he knew why the older boy acted like he did; because, he didn’t have the foggiest idea. “I’m glad you showed up. I kind of worried that you wouldn’t.” He’d spent part of the day worrying that Alex wouldn’t show up there; which would have been his sign to just give up on the older boy…which was something he didn’t really want to do. Cody slowly reached over to Alex’s sketchbook and looked at the older boy as he said, “Can I?” He wasn’t the type of person to look through the sketchbook without asking. That’d be like if someone read his lyric book without permission. He didn’t like the thought of that, so he always asked permission to look at anything that was equal to his lyric book in how important it was to him. And I don’t want the world to see me…
…Cause I don’t think that they’d understand. “I’m glad you showed up. I kind of worried that you wouldn’t.” Alex shrugged a bit, knowing full well he almost hadn’t shown up. He’d almost left as well. But, the younger boy really didn’t need to know that. Alex bit his lip again as he twisted his bracelet around his wrist. His head felt like it was going to explode from all the thoughts that were flying around. There was just so much he wanted to say, most of them having something to do with Cody being an idiot for showing up. He was about to say something else when Cody gestured to the sketchbook asking if he could look. Alex looked down at it for a few seconds before nodding once. He didn’t often let other people look through his sketchbook; but, Cody’d looked through it before. So, it wasn’t that big of a deal. Plus, there were a few of his old sketches of the junior he’d done for his class from the time when they tried the whole friends-with-benefits thing. That was something he’d never try again…it was just awkward. Especially considering he actually liked Cody; that just made it worse, honestly. With a small sigh, Alex said, “I’m actually kind of surprised you showed up.” Part of him had wanted the other boy to not show up…because he felt that no matter what…no he knew that no matter what, Cody would always be too good for him. And he wanted Cody to be with someone he deserved. But, pushing the other teen away didn’t seem to be an option anymore. “You are pretty stupid, know…showing up I mean. You didn’t have to; and, you probably shouldn’t have.” Alex once again found himself saying something that he wanted to take back. His words were slightly bitter and were aimed to hurt; and, he didn’t mean it.tag;; Cody word count;; 310 ooc;;

I don't need no fakes around me...
...All I want is you to be with me. [/b] When Alex nodded, Cody picked up the sketch book and slowly started going through it. Most of the ones toward the beginning he remembered; but, he quickly came across a page he’d not seen before. Cody smiled at the landscape Alex had drawn as the senior stated he was surprised that Cody’d shown up. The junior looked at him for a second with his eyebrow raised before looking back at the sketchbook. Why wouldn’t he have shown up? Cody couldn’t quite figure that part out. He stopped on a sketch of himself that he didn’t remember. When had… “You are pretty stupid, know…showing up I mean. You didn’t have to; and, you probably shouldn’t have.” Cody sighed softly as he looked up at Alex. “You know,” he said softly, “I’m pretty tired of people me telling me that I’m being stupid. And telling me what I should and shouldn’t do. I’m here because whether you fucking see it or not, you mean a lot to me.” He smiled slightly at Alex again before tucking his hair behind his ears and turning the page in the sketchbook again. And I don’t want the world to see me…
…Cause I don’t think that they’d understand. Alex just kind of sat there as Cody spoke. At least someone else was informing the younger boy of his stupidity. “I’m here because whether you fucking see it or not, you mean a lot to me.” Still, Alex just sat there, watching as Cody looked through the sketchbook. He then looked away, looking at the practically empty park around them. He was quite lost; not knowing what to do or say. Nothing seemed to be the right thing to say. There were a few things he could have said, that part of him wanted to…things he knew would hurt the other boy. He often did that…found the things that’d hurt those around him the most and say them. It was a really simple way of pushing people away. Sighing again, his attention was brought back to the younger boy sitting next to him. He bit his lip for a second before saying, “I…I’m…I’m sorry…about…well, about everything. W-well, not everything, just…I’m sorry for the times I tried to hurt you…and pushing you away…and, uh…yeah…” Alex felt kind of stupid at that point. He wasn’t ever good with apologizing, especially face-to-face. But, he didn’t want to throw away what was honestly one of the best things to happen to him. He was still really confused about what he really wanted. Because he knew he wasn’t good enough for Cody, and he wanted the younger boy to be with someone who was…yet, at the same time, he didn’t want Cody to be with anyone else…tag;; Cody word count;; 253 ooc;;
