Matthew sat at the back of the class tapping his fingers on his desk not really knowing what the guy at the front was talking about. A candy cane hung from his lips and his combat boot covered feet were propped up on the metal basket of the chair in front of him. They had only a minute now until the bell would ring. He sighed and began packing up his things. When the bell finally did ring resonating through the room he got up and made his way out of the classroom.
The hallway was packed with kids bustling about. He stuffed all his stuff in his locker and then began walking down it with his hands shoved in the pockets of his zip up jacket. He threw his candy cane in the trash and pulled another one out of the pocket of his skinny legged jeans. He really wasn't paying attention as he walked he only glanced up every so often. He for some reason couldn't get the damn thing open. He almost had it when his five foot eight body connected with someone elses and he was on the floor. He frowned and brushed his hair out of his face with a huff. He pushed hisself up off the ground and dusted off. He looked down at the person and held out a hand. "sorry 'bout that." he muttered.

Lina had been standing on her tip toes to reach the top shelf of her locker. Who in their right mind would give her a top locker? She's a midget! Lina was only 4'11, and she's getting any taller. The good thing about taking Ballet, was she was used to being on her toes. Though it was a little hard without her point shoes.
Finally, she managed to grabbed her book. She slammed her locker shut, and began walking. She had Algebra next. She hated Math. Lina turned put her book in her bag, only to bump into someone. They both crashed to the floor. Lina winced. For a dancer, she wasn't that graceful. The person who had chrashed into her held out a hand, and Lina took it. "It's okay. I was bound to fall eventually anyway." She didn't get how she tripped so often, but still could dance. She shrugged it off.

He helped her up off the ground and then bent and picked up his still wrapped up candy cane. He fiddled with it a minute and finally managed to get it open. He broke it in half and put the straight end in his mouth. He held out the other half with a smile. "Well at least it was me you ran into and not someone mean." He told her with a smirk. He wasn't a mean person... all the time. He looked around and moved the candy cane around in his mouth and shoved his hands back in the pockets of his jacket.

Lina balanced herself, then dusted herself off. He offered her half of a candy cane, and Lina smiled at him. "Thanks," She put the end of it in her mouth, and grinned. You're right. I've had enough "get out of my way, pipsqueak''s to last me about a lifetime. She said, taking the candy out of her mouth, to talk.

Matthew smiled. "Your Welcome." He looked down at her. She was quite short but he wasn't going to make fun of her. that was wrong. "Well... just ignore them and get on with your life. They probably all just have insecurities anyways." He told her looking around for a moment to keep from gaining full eye contact. He finnally sighed and said; "My name's Matthew. Yours?" He asked her with a raised eyebrow. He pushed his hair out of his eyes and put the candy back in his mouth.
