Please, there's a better bit of me to see yet, Cause you haven't seen any of my best. Shopping in New York and shopping in Washington were extremely different things, from Jasmine's experience. In Washington, you could usually find things that were actually vaguely affordable, and and no one glared at you when you wandered around aimlessly. Here, if you had less than two hundred dollars, you'd better go home, and if you dare to stop and not have a mission, someone will probably kill you.
It made Jasmine rather nervous. She stood by a rack of shirts, looking for something to paint in, that was sort of affordable. She didn't have much money, so she had to spend it wisely. Of course, she had her dad's Discover Card with her, so... it's not like he'd notice it if she spent some.
Jasmine flipped through the rack, trying to find something that wouldn't make her feel bad about getting paint all over it. All of her Washington painting clothes had basically fallen apart from being worn so much, so she really needed new ones.
Jasmine was dressed surprisingly normally, especially for her. Her short hair had recently been dyed a rather pretty orange color, and she actually had her lip rings both in for once. She wore simple white jeans and a blue tee shirt. Not very interesting, but not too dull.
Jasmine looked up from her shopping as she saw, out of the corner of her eye, someone standing at the rack next to her, looking at stuff.

I'm strong on the surface, not all the way through...
...I've never been perfect, but neither have you. Cody walked into the store with a small frown on his face. He hadn’t put on any eyeliner that morning and barely had time to straighten his hair before leaving the house. He sighed softly, though no one was around to hear it. He’d not slept well over the past few days, and it was starting to get to him. He got into an argument with his dad because he’d tried to set the teen up with a daughter of one of his co-workers. Cody’d almost blown his secret, but didn’t, stating he was doing just fine on his own looking for “the right girl”. So, he decided to do some shopping to blow off some steam. He searched through some jeans but didn’t find any to his liking. He worked his way through the store, not really paying attention to anything. He hoped none of his friends were there, though. He didn’t feel like having to try to explain the sour look on his face since all of them knew that Cody was almost always happy and smiling. But, that was just because he very rarely let anyone see him upset. There were really only three people with that honor, his brother, Tomas, and Leli.
He wasn’t paying too much attention, so he didn’t notice he was drawing closer to someone there in the store. That was, until he accidently bumped into her. “I’m so sorry,” he said turning to face the person. He smiled when he realized who it was that he’d bumped into. “Oh, hi, Jazz.” He’d met Jazz earlier in the year and quickly became friends with her. He didn’t know her all that well, but he considered her one of his closest friends. tag;; Jazz/Open word count;; 288 ooc;;

Please, there's a better bit of me to see yet, Cause you haven't seen any of my best. Jasmine grinned happily when she saw her friend Cody. Hi! I haven't seen you in like, forever!" Jasmine was sure it had been a few weeks at least, since she'd seen Cody. She wasn't sure why, but she'd just gotten busy, she guessed. And being in different grades, they didn't see each other at school often. Jasmine smiled happily, and gave her friend a quick hug.
Jasmine noticed Cody's odd lack of eyeliner, and was kind of glad she wasn't the only one who wasn't looking exactly like themselves today. And she noticed that he didn't look exactly like the normal, smiley Cody. Jasmine opened her mouth to ask what was wrong, but stopped herself. If he wanted to tell her, he would. She didn't like pressuring people to tell her stuff. Instead, she settled for a less specific,more easy to avoid actually answering kind of question. "How've you been?"

...I've never been perfect, but neither have you. He returned the quick hug gladly. Cody was an affectionate person, and hugs were definitely high on his list of things he liked. They also always helped him to feel better. There was just something about knowing someone cares enough to show affection that raised his spirits. "How've you been?" Cody shrugged in response before saying, “Well, I’ve definitely been better. My parents tried to hook me up with one of my dad’s co-worker’s daughter.” He sighed softly as he rolled his eyes. “Kinda been having some issues with a friend, Alex.” He then smiled as he shifted his weight to one foot. “But, it’ll all work out if it’s meant to.” Cody always tried to keep a positive outlook on things, just like he tried to see the good in everyone. He tried really hard to think there was good in everyone; but, there were always those people that he just couldn’t stand. “What about you? How’ve you been?” He was always the type of person who worried more about his friends’ happiness than his own. It probably wasn’t always the best thing to do, but it was just how he was.
