She was supposed to be in chemistry class. Nonetheless, Penny had never been a fan of science, let alone mixing chemicals here and there, studying the periodic table, and figuring out formulas. Not a regular for skipping class, Penny brushed off her absence by figuring out that everyone needed a break here and there. At least she could use the baby in her belly as an excuse, stating that she was in the bathroom with heartburn or something. So, out she slipped through the backdoor. Her jacket had been put on, and a comic book was in her hands.
Frowning as Penny felt the baby give a kick, she placed a hand over the spot. "C'mon, not now." She mumbled, her back leaning against the brick wall of the school. Cigarette buds littered the ground, her blue eyes gazing over them one by one. Slowly moving towards the steps that led up to the backdoor, Penny lowered herself down at a slow pace. Once situated, the comic resting on her stomach, she began to read.

I'm strong on the surface, not all the way through...
...I've never been perfect, but neither have you. Cody sighed as he walked through the school, hugging his coat closer to himself as he did. It hadn’t been a good day so far and he was supposed to be in maths class. But, he knew he wouldn’t be able to concentrate anyway. He’d been slightly distracted from everything since his little encounter with Alex the Saturday before. He didn't know when or even if Alex would ever call...and, he didn't honestly like the thought of waiting around. But, he didn't like the thought of being with anyone but Alex either. Making sure his jacket was zipped up all the way, he went out the back door and out into the area behind the school. He stopped, seeing someone seated at the edge of the steps that led to the door he’d just come out of. He smiled slightly before walking down the stairs and then sitting down next to the girl. He hoped he didn’t startle her any as he smiled softly and said, “Hi.” Usually, Cody was really talkative, but he wasn’t so much at that point. Maybe this girl could help his mood improve. He just hoped she didn’t turn out to be someone stuck up and bitchy. tag;; penny/open word count;; ooc;;
