Alice forced a smile as her eyes watered. She blinked the tears away; after all, she hadn't cried over this for eight months. She looked over at Tomas, for once not knowing what to follow up with. She just tried to smile and hold herself together. Anyways, class started soon.
"You're the first person I've told that to," She said as an afterthought. She knew he was trying to be worth some comfort, but this was something Alice knew she'd have to get over herself. It just wasn't worth him trying, but she appreciated it. She'd already pushed the memory to the back of her mind when the Rooneys had moved to New York. Yeah, she'd be fine.
"Time is a healer, too, though I wouldn't count on it to completely erase anything." In a way, she kind of wanted to remember her brother, but not for his suicide; for his kind heart and open spirit. She wanted to hold tight onto all the good things he'd done and been to her. And she knew she'd get there eventually, just not yet.
Alice sat there and just breathed for a minute. She thought about Tomas, and how she kind of liked him. Already. "You know," she said slowly, "You're a really awesome guy. I hope you know that." She smiled at him, gently, and sighed.

Even the best fall down sometime…
…Even the wrong words seem to rhyme. He bit his lip as Alice sat there, blinking back tears, wishing he knew what to say. "Time is a healer, too, though I wouldn't count on it to completely erase anything." Tomas shook his head slightly, a small smile on his face. He did know that losing someone you cared about was hard, but you could never fully forget them. Tomas had been close to someone at the home he’d been at before meeting the Hartmans and she’d died in a car accident. It’d been hard at first, and he never had forgotten the girl; but, it didn’t hurt anymore. Silence filled the room for a few minutes, but it wasn’t an awkward silence or anything. Tomas didn’t really notice it until Alice spoke again. He blushed slightly at the compliment, smiling back shyly. “You’re one of the nicest people I’ve met in a long time,” he said, wishing he could think of something else to say, but words once again were avoiding him.tag;; alice/open word count;; ooc;;

Alice laughed lightheartedly and glanced out the door. The hallways were getting a little crowded. Class would start soon... Damn, she thought. She liked it here, just the way it was. This was one of those times that, if she could, she'd stop the world right here. It was pretty awesome.
"Aw, thanks. It's just the way I am. I really hope you don't think I'm, like, way too crazy to be a normal person. A lot of people do. But I don't really give a damn." She laughed again. She was probably a little off-key, personality-wise, but it didn't reaelly matter much to her. If people thought she was a freak, well, let it be, as the Beatles would say.
"But I meant it. You're awesome. Don't let anybody tell you any different. If they do, I'll slap them for you." Alice joked. Though, she might. If she was at one of those points in her life where she felt like it, she would.

Even the best fall down sometime…
…Even the wrong words seem to rhyme. He smiled and laughed a bit when she did after talking about her personality. He shook his head a bit and said, “Nah, you’re not too crazy. My best friend’s Cody…if you looked up 'crazy' in the thesaurus, you'd find his name next to it.” Cody was often called crazy by people for his childish ways, but Tomas didn’t mind. The hyper-active boy…well, when he wasn’t being all moody about a certain senior…was his best friend and Tomas had been known to join him in his childish antics. But, he was so quiet that nobody really cared about that. Tomas smiled at Alice again when she said she’d slap someone for him. He didn’t often have people offer to stick up to him…he didn’t often have people willing to try talking to him either. Tomas could definitely say that that morning had been the most unusual one he’d had in a while; but, it definitely wasn’t unwelcome. He really liked Alice; she was someone he definitely wouldn’t mind talking to again. He frowned a bit when a few people started coming into the classroom. He already felt his shield going back up, in order to block himself from the rest of the world. Tomas could never truly express just how bad he was when it came to being around people. Cody often teased him about it, but never in a cruel way. Tomas didn’t mind, because he had stuff to tease the other boy back with…such as looking at the wrong gender for the “right girl”. Tomas didn’t think he’d ever be able to get over the fact that the other boy’s parents actually bought that bull. “Uhm…so…yeah…” Tomas groaned internally at the fact that he’d seemed to lost all ability to form sentences or words for that matter.tag;; alice/open word count;; 299 ooc;;
