Lina ran down 49th street, with her shoulder bag flying behind her. She wanted to get to Starbucks before she had to go to class. Which meant she had to get up early. And Lina was not pleasant early in the morning. She was now cursing her need for coffee. "Damn it! Why can't they have a half descent cup of coffee around Larkin?" She muttered to herself.
She made it to Starbucks, and collapsed into a chair. She hated running. She got up and bought herself an Espresso, and drank it quickly. It burned her mouth, but she didn't care. She had to get back to school. She put down her coffee and sighed. Her throat was burning now. Lina took another gulp of coffee, before she looked around where she was sitting. She spotted a couple Larkin kids.
Lina tapped her foot and took out her cell phone. She texted Bella, telling her to get up. It was so fun to annoy younger sisters.

Alice had decided to get up early, for once. It might give her a chance to- get this- get coffee before school. She sighed and pushed the door open. Not even looking up to see who else was here, Alice made her way up to the counter and ordered what she always ordered; a German white chocolate coffee. It sounded good, like always.
Her hair was pretty horrendous today. She hadn't brushed it, and all the yellow and red was showing obviously through the forest of orange locks. She didn't really care, though. It may as well look like it did; it was just school.
Alice paid for her coffee and turned to face the other inhabitants of Starbucks. She saw one girl she had seen in school before. She was sitting by herself, so Alice chose to walk over and join her. She smiled and said, "Hey. Hope you don't mind." She sat down lightly in the seat opposite the other girl, a nervous grin on her face.

Lina looked up. Someone was actually talking to her? How strange. Lina shut her phone after reading an angry text message midway. The girl who had come up was taller than Lina, and had orange hair, mixed with red and yellow. Lina smiled. "Not at all." She knew this girl was from Larkin. All Lina knew was that she was into music.
Lina took another gulp of her steaming hot Coffee. "I'm Lina." She said, before it got too quiet. Her Phone started playing 'Leave out the rest' by Linkin Park, signaling that Bella had texted her again. Lina looked up at the girl. "Sorry, that's my sister. I woke her up, and she wants revenge."
Lina flipped open the phone, and saw the text.
Why did you wake me up? Now I can't get back to sleep.
Lina laughed. "My sister is way too polite. I'd spazz if she woke me up."Clicky

Alice allowed herself to laugh softly. Neither of her two (remaining) family members would ever be mad at her, because with Alice... well, it was risky. After one case of suicide, her family had enough on their plate. She glanced up at the girl.
"I'm Alice Ryan. I usually go by both." she said, smiling. She remembered how Carter had moaned when she woke him up this morning. That had been pretty funny... But Nathan had already been up, so that was as far as the fun had gone. She pulled her read hair up out of her face and encircled it with a ponytail holder. All her bangs and several stray strands fell back down.
"So I think I've seen you at Larkin before. Right?" she asked, taking a sip of coffee. Alice hoped she was right; it would be kind of embarassing to be wrong about something like that. But hopefully it was a good conversation starter.

Lina smiled. "Alice Ryan, huh? I've hear of you." Lina remembered now. This girl was all for music. Lina was crud at singing. But this girl wasn't! Lina sipped her coffee, deep in thought. Her sister wasn't bad at singing. But Lina had only ever heard her through the bathroom door.
"Oh, yeah. I've seen you around too. Your into music, right?" Lina had no idea why she asked, because she knew. But why not make sure?

Alice smiled as she sipped another bit of her coffee. It tasted really good right about now; School was always a little chaotic. Okay, maybe a lot. But now Alice was well-fueled for the day ahead of her. Maybe she'd survive.
"Yeah," she grinned. "I love singing. It's kind of like my safe haven. Y'know?" She had always relied on her musical ability. It had gotten her through so much- and it ran in the family. Carter played drums and he wasn't a bad singer, either. Well, what was left of her family.
"So what all are you into?" she asked, flashing a convincing smile. She'd heard of Lina before, but she'd never heard about what she was all good at.
