If there was one place Jonah didn't really want to be, it was here. But here was the place wherehe got the best pay for his act. Jonah sat on an otherwise-empty bench in the subway, his acoustic in hand. He'd left his Fender Stratocaster back at the dorms; it would be an awful thing to lose and it didn't sound as good as the acoustic did down in the subway.
So far, he'd made a good fifty dollars or so. And his performance had been plagued by an awful cough. Goes to show how tone deaf people are... he thought. And then he began to wonder why he wasn't up at the Met performing. He might do just as well there, he figured. And it was worth taking the chance. Just as he was going to pack up and head to the art museum, Jonah noticed someone approaching him that he recongnized.

The subway was one way to travel around New York City, it was a bit better than driving in a car or getting into a taxi when wanting to get somewhere around the busy city. Though, the subway's were a bit..grostques, Juliet still took them to get where she needed to get. Sighing deeply, as she sat on one of the plastic seats on the train, she had one legged crossed over the other, her phone in her hand and texting to a few friends, she was going to be meeting them at a cafe in a little bit and right now, she was bored and decided texting them would help cure the boredom.
Feeling the train starting to come to a halt, she texted her friends telling them that she was about to get of the train and would be there in a few minutes. Juliet put her phone into her purse and stood up as the doors opened up and moved quickly to get off the train before people began to rush onto them and she'd end up stuck on the damn thing until the next stop; Juliet wasn't going to let that happen at all.
A sigh of relief came from her lips, as she pushed through the people and was on the platform away from the train. Her eyes glanced around a bit and a tune came to her ears, the voice sounded familiar and it made the curious side of her go to see who it was. Seeing that it was Jonah, a small smile came to her lips; of course Juliet thought the boy was very cute, but to ever admit it to anyone that she knew would definitely kill her. But, since she knew none of her own friends ever rode the subway, she figured it would be safe to approach him, and she did. When she did, she gave him a warm smile "Hi, Jonah."

Jonah looked up to see a familiar face in front of him. Miss Juliet Aldridge, a very pretty girl, he had to admit, from Larkin. He didn't know her all that well, but he knew who she was. She was so sweet, as compared to him... well, there was an obvious difference. He smiled back when she spoke. He couldn't help it; smiling was contagious. And he was a rather friendly person anyways.
Jonah gently laid his red acoustic beside him on the bench and hesitated. He didn't like to stand up next to people. It made him feel awkward, considering his height. So he didn't move and stayed seated on the metal bench. "Hey, Juliet." After that, he didn't say a lot for a few seconds. But realizing that there was an awkward void between them now, he spoke again.
"So why are you riding the subway? You just don't seem like that kind of person." Jonah hoped she wouldn't take that offensively. He hadn't meant it in a bad way; he'd just meant that she was much too sweet and, well, better than that, in his opinion. Hell, he was only here because he could always use the extra income. And besides, you don't get paid for being a student. He tried to smile a little more convincingly.

Juliet gave a few blinks towards his words, then just shrugged a bit "I really didn't want to, but it's the quickest way to get to anywhere around here in this city." she rolled her eyes a bit, once more thinking about the horrid traffic of this huge city and was always still shocked of the amount of traffic it could produce within a few minutes. It was crazy.
The girl was starting to feel a bit odd standing here while he was sitting there, so instead of just staying isitting, Juliet took a seat down on the bench next to him and kept the smile to her face. What in the world she was doing, she really had no idea, she knew her friends would end up calling her or texting her to ask where she is at or if she got lost or something. She groaned mentally to herself at the thought and figured they would wait or go on without her, it didn't matter to her.
Her eyes drifted away from the boy before her and glanced towards the guitar he had laying on the bench next to him then looked back towards his face and asked curiously "Do you always play down here?" she asked him.

Jonah nodded. Traffic in New York City was unbelievable. Always congested, always noisy... It was a nuisance, to be honest. "Yeah. At least it's all foot traffic down here." He answered, noticing that the station was clearing out a little. Not a whole lot, but enough to be noticeable. The drone of voices continued around him, though. They never stopped.
As Juliet sat down next to him, Jonah felt the level of awkwardness sinking. He hated to stand when someone was sitting, and vice versa. Brushing a stray strand of hair out of his eyes, Jonah considered what to say and answered her question. "Well, sometimes. I usually play at the Met or Central Park, but the people there don't seem to care as much. It pays better down here." Jonah enjoyed getting paid for something that didn't take too much effort on his part.
As people continued to buzz all around the subway station, Jonah leaned over and laid his guitar in its case. He snapped it shut, just in case. Because you never know what can get stolen when you're having a conversation in an overcrowded subway station in New York City.

Juliet nodded in agreement to his words; it was true, it was all nothing but foot traffic and nothing more. The train wasn't really a problem, since it was on the rails and came and went as it needed to. She listened to his words, talking of where he usually played at and gave him a smile "I suppose whatever gets you the best money and works better is always the best choice." she told him softly.
The girl had been known to be a sweetheart, but never in front of the people that were her friends; she was usually always a complete bitch and made sure to give a hard glare towards those that weren't a part of the popular kids or even those that weren't a part of the school because they got in with scholarships, instead of money from their parents. But right now, Juliet was sitting here alone with Jonah, and she was positive none of her friends would be down here and catch her.
She watched him place the guitar into it's case and close it up; that was probably a wise thing when being down here in a crowded subway in New York City. People were known to take things that didn't belong to them no matter who it belonged it, the thought kind of made her clutch slightly at her bag and was really wanting to get out of the subway station. Juliet looked towards Jonah, giving him a smile "Hey, would you care to grab some coffee or something with me?" she asked him bluntly. For some reason, Julite was feeling a bit..risky today and she didn't know what it was. She heard her phone give off a buzz and ignored it, knowing it was her friends and could always get together with them any other time.

Jonah sighed and replied, "Mmm." Money was great and all, but sometimes, it was better to be out in the fresh air once in a while. But Jonah figured he'd be out and about in the big city soon enough.
Jonah noticed that Juliet was acting pretty nice right now. And that should be odd to him, considering he wasn't one of the wealthiest people at Larkin. And he certainly wasn't one of the most popular. But he was himself; that was all he cared about. Even though he was here on scholarship... That's why it was so odd that Juliet was being so sweet. He was never in with populars. And they always ignored him.
Juliet offered to get some coffee, and Jonah couldn't turn her down. This was a pretty rare chance, and opportunity is not a lengthy visitor. He grinned and answered, "Sure. It'd be nice to get out of here. Not the greatest of places to be." He checked to make sure his guitar was still beside him.

Juliet stood up as he agreed to go get some coffee with her "Great. We could catch the next train and take it to uptown or we could walk." she told him, either way, she didn't really care. Still, a part of her was wondering what it was that was making her be this way; why she was being all nice to this boy that wasn't like her and/or group of friends? Why was she talking to him, why did she ask him to go get coffee with him. Mentally, she huffed a bit at herself, figuring there was no point in trying to figure it all out. If she got caught, she'd act as if she didn't know this guy and just shove him off or say that he was lying about who he was or something.
Either way, Juliet was going to have a good time today; whether going and having coffee with this boy, or getting caught then lying about being with him and going off with her friends to do something fun and productive with them. Today was her day, or at least, that was the way she was seeing it as.

Jonah looked down to grab his guitar. He grabbed it by the guitar case's handle and stood up to join Juliet. He pondered over her question, but it didn't take him long to decide. "Let's walk. I hate those trains and the exit's real close." He leaned down and picked up his hat, which he'd forgotten about. As soon as it was on his head, he began to walk, making sure Juliet was with him.
He realized he was only a little bit taller than she; but that Jonah found normal. He wasn't the tallest guy in the world, but her got by. After a minute or two, he turned to Juilet, who was on the side of him that didn't have a big, bulky guitar case by his side.
"So I wouldn't expect you to be out now without friends," he said jokingly. Jonah smiled a little bit as he realized how odd it was that someone like Juliet would waste her time with a guy like him at all. The thought was perplexing, but he didn't spend too much time thinking. He was just glad it was like this, even if it was just right now. It was a change for the better, as far as Jonah was concerned.

Juliet nodded to him in a bit of agreement, the trains were a bit horrible and the girl really didn't want to spend anymore time on them if she had to today. Once the other had grabbed his things, she walked along beside him as they made their way up and out of the subway station towards the crowded sidewalks and streets of the busy city.
Hearing his words, Juliet turned slightly to look at him and laughed a little bit and shook her head "I can always be with them any time of the day." she rolled her eyes slightly and looked ahead of her "For some reason, I felt the need for a...change." she told the boy with a small shrug of her shoulder.
